Christopher Hanell wins 12th edition of Madeira Island Open in Santo da Serra
Sweden's Christopher Hanell was the winner of the 12th Madeira Island Open, finishing with 284 strokes (73, 67, 73, 71), four under par and less one than a trio of compatriot Steven Jeppesen, Australian Brad Kennedy and American Rob Rashell.
Hanell only saw victory in the competition close to the end thanks to the birdie obtained in hole 17, and became the Swedish quarter to win in Madeira after the victories of Mats Lanner (1994, 1998), Jarmo Sandelin (1996) and Niclas Fasth (2000).
