Frenchman Jean Van De Velde broke a European Tour tourney fasting which dates back to 1993 and became the first Frenchman ever to play in the Santo da Serra Golf Club.
The champion ended his participation with an excellent result of 273 strokes (69, 65, 71 and 68), 15 below Par.
Lee Slattery finished second with a shot from the leader while Pedro Linhart of Spain, the 1999 champion, finished the top-3 with 275 (-3).
