Alastair Forsyth was the winner of the 16th Madeira Islands Open 2008 BPI - Portugal, in Santo da Serra
Exciting and historic, this was the end of the 16th edition of Madeira Islands Open BPI - Portugal 2008, where the great 'champion was known after a play-off.
For the first time in the history of the Madeiran event, the winner was found in 'sudden death', with Scotland's Alastair Forsyth defeating South African Hennie Otto in the first 'hole' of the play-off after he started the last Back with five advantage strokes over Forsyth.
In what was foreseen the final exit (hole 18) for the champion's party, the truth is that both favorites to the triumph performed an identical performance, which made the first play-off in the history of the event.
In the play-off, Forsyth made biridie, Otto made pair, and the Scotsman ended up doing the title party.
